Spread the love

Feeling a little flat now that the Christmas tree is finally down?

Need a fun date for your diary that you can also call 'work'?

Look no further… Managers Dawn Gracie (Chichester), Charlotte Briggs (Emsworth & Havant), Sarah Thompson (Midhurst) and Alison Brown (Arundel) got their heads together to create an extra opportunity for their members and guests to network whilst also having a little fun.

The venue for this extra event was chosen because it is easily accessible by train and there is ample parking at Gunwharf Quays, plus it's a little different and we're always up for learning some new skills.

With entertainment from Johnny Zero and Dawns Vintage Do, wine tasting from Lurgashall Winery and casino lessons from our hosts, this is set to be a networking event to remember!

All profits from this event are being donated to The British Heart Foundation - help us spread the love.

DATE: Friday 15th February 2013

TIME: 12noon - 3pm

VENUE: Grosvenor Casino, Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth

PRICE: £20 per person

Price includes
  • welcome drink
  • buffet lunch
  • entertainment
  • a chance to learn some fabulous casino skills!

Come along and enjoy dynamic networking and help us fundraise for The British Heart Foundation.

We look forward to seeing you there!

What a night! WOYA12

Phew - what a night ! There was as much buffing, scrubbing, straightening, curling and making up as anyone could imagine in Sussex on Friday night! The county’s most glamorous women, the high achievers , the inspirational, the community minded and the stars of the future were gathered in Arundel for the inaugural, local ‘Woman of the Year’ Awards. The excitement built steadily throughout the week culminating in a room full of beautifully attired Ladies and their support, both structural (think Bridget Jones knickers and the like !) and emotional – friends, partners and the and the wider MNC family.

Nicky Chisholm had to be literally laced into her pink affair for her grand entrance ( ‘and that was no mean feat’ - Sara) and Sara Guiel spent a long time wriggling into rib crushing BIG knickers in order to shimmy into her very long dress (‘Just hilarious’ - Nicky)! The regional MNC Managers were there in force and we were thrilled to be there with them in association with JPSouth Events.

MNC is all about raising the profile of business women ( and some men) , connecting people to forward their careers and chose businesses. On Friday night we were proud of all our members and Managers and every other nominee in that room as they are setting a trend for the recognition and status of the next generation of women.

We know that being a woman is never easy. In this day and age when the term equality is so easily confused with discrimination, when those in the faith business think it’s best that their female employees don’t rise through the ranks but still expect you to keep the faith; when ‘real’men ( and I use that term in the loosest sense) celebrate the women’s insurance hike in the name of equality … or should that be discrimination…well, they can afford to with their higher than women’s average salaries!

18 winners among such a high quality field of nominations with the recognisable Fred Dinage at the helm. He perhaps had a line in patter that our Ladies weren’t quite so au fait with and was possibly more fitting with a corporate bash than a glamorous high achieving, intelligent, creative crowd, but he was a professional when it came to dealing with heckling (just a little misplaced ) and had a great way of including the families and supporters of the worthy winners.

We had 5 fantastic MNC winners Joyanne Williamson, Jen Trew, Orla Lambe , Rachel Boyle, Jeanette Stanley. Next time we hope that all the winners will be true achievers in their fields, the creative and the educational, the sporting and the business. And it will only be acheiveable with the help of the super supportive sponsors. Many of our members decided to get behind this event to make it happen so a huge vote of thanks to sponsors White Ochre Design, MCCIT, Spofforths, La Belle, Lurgashall Winery without whom….etc.etc!

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the night , the event , the process and the planning ! Let us have your feedback , comment below or contact Sara sarag@agoodgossip.co.uk

September 2011

Global Mumpreneurs Networking day
Tuesday 13th September, The Grand Hotel, Brighton

GMND

The Mumpreneurs Networking Club is going Global on Tuesday 13th September 2011!  This dynamic, networking club  is holding events all around the globe to highlight the work and contribution that Mumpreneurs make to the global economy.

‘The contribution that business mums make around the world is massive and in developing countries literally lifesaving.  The Mumpreneurs Networking Club has grown very steadily in the U.K. and we know that mums all over the world use their creativity and energy to make a difference to their families.  As a Club we wanted to celebrate the achievement of the global Mumpreneur movement !’ says Sara Guiel (Co-founder)

The day will see events held in countries as far apart as Australia, China, Canada, France, Italy and the U.S. as well as the U.K under the Networking Club’s umbrella.  ‘We’ve teamed up with organisations all over the globe and hope to be able to link up at some point during proceedings via the wonders of modern technology’ says Nicky Chisholm co founder. The very exciting twist to the day’s events is that some of the Clubs managers will fly out to co host at number of meetings abroad to bring a little Mumpreneurs Networking Club magic and fun to events! In the U.K. that day they will hold a special celebratory event for all their Club members from across the regions to join together at The Grand Hotel in Brighton  with special guests and lots of surprises!

The Mumpreneurs Networking Club is proving it’s global credentials by sponsoring a truly international event on the 4th July, in quintessential English seaside town, Worthing.  Business Mum and Author Meghan Fenn is launching her book ‘Bringing Up Brits’   The book recounts the experiences of expats raising their British children and takes a warm look at the issues this raises. Meg is an American who lives and runs her businesses in the U.K. She is raising her 3 British children alongside her work. As the Worthing Manager for the Club, Meg says ‘many of the parents featured in the book are themselves mumpreneurs and the guest list is a rich, cross cultural mix of business mums , friends and family.’

The Mumpreneurs Networking Club would like to hear from anyone inspired to get involved on Global Mumpreneurs Networking Day.  If you would like to hold an event somewhere in the world under the Club’s umbrella on September 13th then get in touch with Sara- she’d love to hear from you! The day will be one of celebration and fun’ says Sara ‘ but the message is a serious one , mumpreneurs make a huge difference to economies across the globe and we want to show the world that with the right support and encouragement business mums can change things for the better for their families and for a wider community’.

Notes: The Mumpreneurs Networking Club was founded by Sara Guiel and Nicky Chisholm in November 2009 in Brighton .  There are now 12 venues across London, Sussex and Surrey with more planned this year.
